Named after Aleppo, along the Silk Road in northern Syria Aleppo flake pepper contain no inner flesh & seeds. Have sweetness & flavor of s/d tomatoes with a substantial kick behind it. Fairly mild with its heat building slowly with a fruity raisin-like flavor, naturally oilier but slightly salty because salt is often used in the drying process.
Uses: Widely used in lebanese, turkish & middle eastern cooking. Delicious on grilled meat chicken, steak & chops. Try this on pizzas, salads, and pasta. Its moderate heat enriches savory fish stews, rice pilafs, simmered beans and lentils.
